The "how the fuck do we not have an LPL thread" edition. Well, understandably, a lot of people checked out on that league - it's not even in liquidbets, it almost always disappoints internationally and it had approximately 8345 games played every season, with roughly 120% of them being ties (since they've employed glorious bo2).
But the table have turned as LPL is now the region with shortest average game time (33:22 compared to 40:03 average for major regions). They also moved to BO3. There are 14 teams (?!?) split into 2 groups, similarly to how their sister-from-another-mother region EU LCS worked last season - double round robin within your own group and single round robin against the other group. This is still a shitload of games, so LPL runs every single day, with 2 games on weekdays and 3 games on weekends.
You can follow results on our own fantastic liquipedia or watch matches on LoLEsports youtube channel. I don't really plan on posting anything, just figured we could use a thread in case anything cool happens.

Oh man, thank you for posting this, because I've been so tempted to just slide in some LPL comments during LCK. Not being on Liquibets also decreases participation here, but oh well.
Watching RNG today, I couldn't help but think how good they look while playing badly. They look like they're doing everything right, but somehow it just doesn't seem to click. They need Uzi back, Able sucks super hard, and y4 is mechanics with no brain. On the other hand, ROG look quite good, I was a firm believer that Smlz was an upcoming star before he disappeared from pro play, good to see him back at the top.
EDG not looking too hot, but damn iBoy is one hell of a carry (when he doesn't die in lane...). In fact, the LPL as a whole has gotten a big pack of terrifying new ADC: iBoy, Jackey, Loken, Chelly. Combined with all the other great ADC already in the league, the whole bot lane is just terrifying.

Well, I can post my opinions on LPL if you want, although I don't have the full picture, because watching LPL is extremely time consuming, and honestly I''m probably wrong about a lot of stuff.
I have no idea what Uzi is doing, but I seriously hope he isn't considering retiring. Think he's just taking a break, RNG also has a deep ADC bench this season and they seem to be testing them out. RNG isn't doing badly without him in terms of play, but they need him if they want to be 1st place again.
A: I try to stay in touch with the Chinese Audience to help add "cultural flavor" to my casting for the western audience - I have various people I trust translate and explain the memes to me. These days I go on the NGA boards myself and use google translate and then ask questions if I'm confused, but I find it really important to be aware or up-to-date with the freshest memes.
Lol

Aaand rip imp hype. :0

The recent WE vs EDG match was pretty awesome and well worth watching. It’s got everything. Action packed early games. Crazy ganks. Desperate stalls. Team fights. Baron steals. Late game hero plays. Really just very good LOL to watch.
|
Oh, I watched that one live It was fantastic, def one of the best series this season so far. And god I love watching iBoy play, especially with Uzi missing.

Has riot stopped posting English language coverage of the LPL? The last few IG games I couldn’t find the English streams on you tube anywhere and the lol eports website has said no videos available.
|
Form my understanding, LPL streams the two games in the main stadium in English, but a third game is played somewhere else simultaneously, and that's not casted in English. Sucks as well, iG was playing today.
|
Yeah. I feel like the IG games should always be in English. I mean, there’s a good chance they are the second best team in the world, they deserve to have their games cast in English.

They also don't stream the Tuesday games. I assume it's for clarity/consistency.

I really hope they play a few games against KT, they have a similar vibe and both rosters are oozing in talent. But I rate them third in world tops, KT and KZ are better, AF is probably even with them.
They don't stream Tuesday? That's so frustrating, really missing out on a lot of good LPL games this season.

Afreeca bout to take down KT. Hopefully, Rift Rivals will be exciting.

Ah, I can live with that, they totally deserved the win. They're like a mini ROX story all over again, the whole roster can meet in the finals again haha.
