- whoa, all these colours.... - Group B is rigged - Oh wait, phoenix is lpl - Wait, pheonix...? Thanks for making this, I missed everything completely. I'll be rooting for Griffin this year. I wanted them to go to worlds last year so badly..

Trying something new so...let me know if that was an "I hate colour give me more muted black and white stuff" or a yay colours! Also, fixed that typo :D

There are a lot of words I'd use to describe these groups, balanced isn't close to one of them Lots of people moaning on Reddit that there needs to be a third pool for teams that get an auto spot in the main tournament but are obviously not major regions. Technically, everyone in group B is a first seed for their region, let that sink in. But I don't think the groups are that bad honestly, it just so happens that this year there are a lot of strong teams, there was a high likelihood of 3 of them landing in a single group. There's a likelihood that the 4 teams will make the groups even more lopsided though, which isn't too great.

I think the easier solution is boot out LMS seed 3, put seed 2 in play ins, and give an extra group stage spot to the region that wins MSI. Rekkles says it best in Fnatic's video, their group is 3 of the top 5 teams at the tournament yet they're all meeting each other in group stage where 1 can't advance. No other format has that kind of shit. Group A has the most recent international champion, last year's semifinalists, and the second best team in Korea. But B and to an extent D is a literal joke.

C9 will depend on how well Griffin shows up in a high pressure situation and there's a chance that G2 can flake out in groups again. Clutch is fucked by being forced into C, but they were probably fucked regardless by virtue of being NA3. TL will probably be a double coinflip of "Do they get Splyce or do they get Damwon?" and "Does Worlds iG show up or does MSI iG show up?"

My instinctive reaction was also to find a pattern in the colours (eg region, seed or whatever), which obviously didn't work. Team colours in lol have very little meaning to me personally.

Seriously though, a lot of NA fans I’ve talked to (though) not people who have any decent understanding of the game still think NA is closing the gap. I think LCK and LPL are pretty even with the side the meta favors ending up on top (a scrappy meta favors LPL and s controlled meta favors LCK. I think the top of EU is pretty close to both but the region as a whole being pretty far off. I was just kinda hoping that the two NA teams seeded in groups crapped out hardcore and the third didn’t even end up coming out of their play-in group of 3. It’d kinda feel like justice. Plus, it looked like given the draws this year had that potential to be the NA dream crusher.

I think people are overrating G2 based off a single tournament and I've not seen *anybody* that things the gap between NA and the other major regions is closing.

Quality of the mid tier EU teams dropped between seasons imo, I thought OG would become a contender for 2nd place, instead they didn't improve much, SO4 never seemed to get better either. MSF crashed and burned big time, VIT needs no explanation, RGE started picking up pace too late.
