After a long hiatus, LiquidLegends' world-renowned Liquibets returns from the dead to bring glory and fame to those bold enough to enter! Congratulations to the top finishers from Liquibet Season 3 (Spring 2016). You have won the prize of fondness in our hearts:

For season 4 we've changed the format a bit. LPL has been removed from the setting since so many people didn't watch it. That leaves NA LCS, EU LCS, and LCK.
Prizes:
This year we have some killer prizes from the Team Liquid Jinx store.
First Place
Second Place
Third Place
Instructions:
- Votes are open until 1 hour before the matchday starts. Currently, only EU/NA LCS and LCK are included.
- Click on the team you want to win.
Every match awards you points: - 1 point for regular season matches - 3 points for playoffs matches - 5 points for finals
The current season will last until the end of the Spring Season, up to and including the Mid Season Invitational.
I'll bump this thread every time new Liquibets get added but usually, they'll be set up more than a week in advance (depending on how/when Riot announces their schedules).
Get hype and may the odds be ever in your favor!!
UPDATE: VOTING LIVE. REWARDS ANNOUNCED!
|
Should line up the liquibet seasons with World Championship cycles so less confusing imo, e.g. just call this 2018 Spring Split or S8 or w/e
Also that way we can pretend liquibet s4+ happened

By the way, nobody start voting yet since they will most likely reset in a day or two.

Nooooooo, now my top 3 ranking in the standings that was displayed for the last ~2 years will disappear... Plus now that we finally get prizes again, I'll probably fail to achieve the same height of success this time around.

I guess that makes sense though.

This will be a fun year because NA and EU changed so drastically, should be somewhat hard to predict early on.

Hopefully I do better than 50/50 this time around

ON YOUR MARKS! GET SET! GO! Week 1 of NA/EU added. KR calendar hasn't been announced yet.
|
NA is bo1s but what about EU so I can bet accordingly
google says bo1
|
EU Bo1 as well. KR is the only one that is bo3 this year. LPL is bo2. Which is part of the reason it got removed cause of the chance of ties.

Damn, without the LPL my strat of raking more points by looking at my score from the previous week when filling liquibets to outdo the other people who don't watch can't thrive anymore. :<
|
great, LPL was tanking me hard
|
EU is pretty much impossible, so many players I don't know. In the end I ended up choosing teams with the most known players, hoping somewhat correlated with experience in LCS(/LCK).

Whoops! Someone mentioned it was bo2 when I asked what people preferred a couple of weeks ago. My lack of knowledge about regular season LPL is more evidence that it shouldn't be in Liquibets :D!

I was the one who mentioned Bo2 for LPL.. I just remembered the pain in the ass that was voting for Bo2s for LPL in the last Liquibet but apparently they changed their format to Bo3 last year. My bad.
Still think that it was the right call to ditch LPL, there was a big amount of LPL matches that played at bad times for a western audience last time around and it only increased with Bo3 + 7 teams per group (instead of 6). LCK is also inconvenient to watch but it's hard to omit our Korean overlords and I'm pretty confident that the NA/EU/KR regions are way more popular than China.

Is it safe to place bets for week 1 yet?

Idk, I honestly believe that over the course of the next few years, LPL will edge closer and closer to LCK in terms of results. First and second will probably always end up a KR super team, but everything else underneath will be dominated by the Chinese. Look at Worlds last year, 3rd and 4th were CN, RNG was first in groups and almost beat SKT, EDG could've made it out but shit the bed first week.
New LPL superteams are forming this season, the region as a whole will probably be stronger again. As bad players get filtered out and replaced by someone from their bottomless talent pool, they will just become better and better. I really think you people are missing out on these games, even if you only watch them as VODs.

I enjoy hurting myself betting on China. Thanks to the corrupt Liquid administration withholding my LPL shots, I will have to turn to harder substances like ban bets.
+ Show Spoiler +I still honestly believe CN is the best bet to ever beat KR though.

BUMP!
Week 1 of LCK added.
Unfortunately, due to KSV being super annoying and announcing their logo super late, their logo, as well as Kingzone Dragon X's logo, haven't been uploaded so their games are excluded from week 1 but should be good to go for week 2 and onwards. After this week, Liquibets will be uploaded on a two-week schedule so that everyone has ample time to judge strength from this week's games spam votes based on preconceived strengths of teams unrelated to actual performances.

Is the 3rd or 4th best team in the league losing to the 5th best team really a surprise though? KT is going to lose 2-3 more sets this split against teams they shouldn't lose to 80% of the time.
|
Yes, because KT was hyped up as one of the super teams, consisting of a roster with legendary players on every position. No one on the team is not considered top 5 for their role in KR, even in the world. They are all proficient laners, watch the series and you'll see them pulling cs leads in almost every lane. They have solid drafting most of the time, and are able to pull off a lot of strategies. Imo I would consider their roster the most talented in KR except for LZ. And yet somehow, they can't achieve anything of note, except win Kespa cup lol.
Don't get me wrong, AF played quite well, and KT didn't exactly crumble apart. But with a roster as hyped as theirs, losing series like this is a bit disappointing.

Just a relatively minor thing but I noticed that for today's EU LCS matches, we can still change our votes up until the matches start, not 1 hour before, as you have stated. This is what I see currently (~20 minutes before the 1st EU LCS match):

Can you fix this for next week, for consistency's sake?

Hey, yup made a small error and forgot EU LCS has a different start time on Sundays. Fixed for this week.
Also, Liquibets for this week up!

Could the selected TL logo pop a bit more? Every time I go to check my picks I reselect on TL matches because I can't tell if it's picked or not.

HERE WE GO! LIQUIBETS FOR THE NA AND EU FINALS ARE UP (and 3rd place and LCK quarters)! Five points each!

The top 5 is separated by 2 points going into LCK finals and MSI. Assuming everyone is taking the KingZone bet MSI is going to be the decider

Left my run a little too late by the looks of it. Unless I big brain entire MSI

For a moment I thought the Liquibet was done after the LCK finals but I forgot about MSI. I still got a change to get back to top 3. It's gonna be really close...

are MSI liquibets going to include Play-Ins or just MSI proper? I can imagine MSI will turn into a fiesta with international bo1s

hmm forgot to take this into consideration... What do other people think? Probably leaning towards just MSI after play-ins. Although...Worlds edition may be a full one including play-ins.

Ads, pls. We're unable to make LPL or LMS a league in the liquibets, why would you add the likes of CLS, OPL and LCL there.
Starting from the groupstage, there will be already 30 one-pointers, 2 3-points and a five-pointer, that's already more than enough to boost you to the first spot.
|
Maybe just the VCS vs X and LMS vs Y part of play in. But even then that's just free points and doesn't really help people climb. Objectively I think it would be hilarious to vote on the Play-Ins stage, but selfishly as the person 1 point away from first I want as little opportunities to fuck up as possible. Possibly leave it to a poll?

yeah a poll could work, i think it would be kinda fun to do play-ins but it would be a total shit show

What are the rules if the Liquibet ends with multiples ties in the top 3? Would the "Correct %" stat be the tiebreaker? And what if there are ties in points AND correct percentage at the same time (however unlikely that would be)?
I'm asking right now because if ties do happen, it would be essential to figure out the official rules to determine the top 3 before the standings are locked in.
For MSI play-ins group stage, yeah, it kinda sucks since there will only be regions that no one watches + the inevitable "clown fiesta"-ness, which is a recipe for luck-based voting (and rankings). I don't know if that's the kind of philosophy we want for Liquibet. But it might allow to create more distance between standings and more opportunities for people to catch up or get ahead, although Bo1 games in the main stage of an international event is a quite a bit more unpredictable than regional matches. So I'm unsure what to vote for here..

I believe it continues until someone wins. So it continues into Summer until somebody breaks ahead of the pack.

Zzitai isn't at MSI but no, they don't announce teams before the game. I believe Soaz is also playing at MSI.

Semis added! Only three games left in the season. The top-5 could all take it home with a bit of luck (and a bit of smarts).
Guaranteed I will predict every playoffs game correctly.
