Many korean netizens were complaining about 양학하러왔습니다 to be able to join OGN because Apdo and three others of his team were known elo boosters.
Jpak summarized it pretty good.
On October 22 2013 09:36 jpak wrote: Well according to what I read, Riot Korea has said pretty much that "The rule currently is that summoners are only prevented from playing in tournaments during the time of their ban. Since apdo and team served their ban, they are not prevented from participating."
Riot Korea also said, however, that they're discussing (T/N I think internally and with partners) a set of rules regarding incidents like the Monster Gaming elo boost incident, and that they will announce it in the near future.
Needless to say, this is a controversy among Korean netizens right now.
Apparently Apdo received a 1000 year ban and this will probably result that we will dont see him at OGN offline qualifiers. If his team gets DQ I am not sure.
Edit:
Riot stated that he is banned from Riot tournaments till Season 5 (2 years).

Hopefully Apdo becomes their proxy coach and they make it to OGN with their sub.

also with the elo boosting thing it seems that there has to be a bigger support network behind the actual players doing the boosting for the whole business to run. why not go after those guys more. in the lilballz case it seems garena turns a blind eye in terms of creating active countermeasures, but when a prominent player is implicated they have to hand out harsh punishment to pacify the public anger over the issue and appear as doing something about the problem.

wow what a bummer i wanted to see apdo kass competitively so bad aughghghghghgh

elo boosting is no secret here in singapore. garena staff are aware and some use the services themselves

A 1000 year ban that seems slightly excessive.

This also means that Apdo will not be able to participate in IeSF 2013 in Romania.

Is there more information about this tournament? which team will participate?

it's pretty dumb lol if you're gonna ban for elo boosting you should ban half of the people on NA teams ~_~

Double standards and korean netizens kicked up a fuss so riot korea pandered to their tastes

Actually a lot of the pros in the NA/EU LCS were known for ELO boosting. It's just Riot only started actively caring this year so they get off the hook for free. It's terrible double standards and rather disgusting honestly.

can't get this to work. what's his new id?
edit: seems like his new id is "압도아님"
|
iirc riot drew a line where when they first made the rule in NA saying, "this is a list of known Elo boosters, they get a slap on the wrist now. anybody who elo boosts from this point on will be permabaned." so if that announcement was taken at face value to have applied to all regions the punishments would be reasonably consistent

I downloaded Silverlight, but I still can't seem to watch the stream. Is there any thing I have to do?

Wow just read a comment on Reddit about all this. I did not realize that Korean attention whores(Heesama) were so far beyond their western counterparts. This whole situation is pretty embarrassing.
edit: Does Riot KR respond to Inven in the same way that Riot responds to Reddit? In how top posts get their attention.
|
That was my post and it got deleted Guess they didn't like the pics, it's not like I mentioned her summoner or real name though!
And Riot KR doesn't respond to inven like Rioters do on league but they definitely pay attention to what's popular on the boards.

how long does military time last? apdo can go do that and wait out his ban
|
Military duty is two years I think. Thing is Apdo postponed his service date to March or something to play League lol
He's been playing a lot on his secret account; it's currently plat with a nice record.
|
21 months for the army. sucks they took your post down

What apdo would've been if he didn't boost. Oh well...

well they can't just randomly ban someone with good stats under the suspicion that is apdo... looks like he finally picked up someone outside off Ez/TF/Zed/Diana though, never seen him play Ori before

So is duoing with someone bringing them to Diamond I also considered elo-boosting?

Yes.

In terms of mechanics, yes.
I've seen this guy just decimate pro players in mid lane 1v1 without jungler help.
|
On November 03 2013 09:43 wei2coolman wrote: Keep hearing about apdo, how good is this guy? Faker good?
No. He's very well versed in how to win games in solo-que, but he himself admitted multiple times that he'd be out of his depth competing against high calibre professionals due to the vastly different nature of professional games and solo-que games.
In terms of pure "gaming potential", as vague as that term is, I personally felt that he doesn't even compare remotely to the talent displayed by Faker during his amateur days. He's good, there's no doubt about that, but his mechanics doesn't particularly stand out even when compared to someone like DosoO (another famous amateur player), and Apdo has owned up to being worse than DosoO when he started getting famous, before his ego took over.
However, it's not a stretch to say that the guy understands how solo-que works better than almost anybody in the world, and if someone were to host a tournament to see which player can get ELO-boost most efficiently, he'd be a match for Faker. If someone were to stage a tournament to see which player comes out on top after building a team around the mid-laner, Faker will piss all over Apdo.
|
he has the laning and soloqueue mechanics, but you need quite a bit more to become pro. Don't think he has the teamwork, trust, and leadership
