Overall goal for this thread: This thread is where I will put those articles/news/community funnies I find that don't really merit a full standalone thread, but are still worth reporting about.
My personal goal for this thread: Update this thread with at least one new post every 2 days.

Shy and Madlife flew to Riot Headquarters to beta test the new Season 4 changes at the invitation of Riot. They flew over on the 20th and will return to Korea on the 24th.
Kespa, Riot and OGN published rules and punishment for Korean players. I need to go to class now and cant translate till I comeback. Wont be back for atleast 5 hours.
Apdo is now banned on the account he was streaming with yesterday (압도아님, the dia5 smurf he namechanged from 이즈리얼선픽좀요). Apparently any account he makes with his ssn will now be banned so he's been playing on a friend's level 25-ish account doing normals. He name changed it today so no one knows the ID atm. He's probably not going to stream anymore since any account he uses on stream will likely be banned.

The account which had really bad stats and Apdo started playing suddenly perfect games everywhere :D

how's it going with him and his stalker girl
she started posting pictures of Locodoco. So maybe he got lucky.
Yeah he has some crazy stats on that account (1 loss out of like 50 games). He name changed it again and inven users are stalking him lol. I mean holy shit let the guy play some before he leaves for the army.
Apdo hasn't been posting on gall and he hasn't streamed since yesterday so not much between him and that chick. She's been flirting with kyahaha (asd from longpanda's team) too.

Cloudtemplar, Jun Yong-Joon, and Nal_Ra will go to the Hanyang University LoL Finals, which has a first place prize of 30 million Won, on October 29th.
Kespa President (Jeon Byeong heon): In an agreement with Riot games and Ongamenet which we have already announced there will be another League besides OGN Champions. We (Kespa) are currently in preparation of this league and hope to extend the player pool.
MVP, Prime and IM joined the organization.(Its not yet official but since they attended the kespa seminar, its pretty obvious)
I feel happy that with the announced Next Esports plan we are able to broaden our scope and that more teams and players can participate in our progaming seminar. We are making preparations to make progamer a more honorable education and that the fans can receive more love from the gamers.
the way montecristo explained it, proleague is kespa's bread and butter because it is a high profile league that lets every sponsor have their spotlight guaranteed because they can't be eliminated from play so frequently. more korean games is definitely good, but apparently the players don't like it. more work work
KT Bullets will go to the Busan Sajik Arena on Nov 2nd at 4PM to cheer on the KT Sonicboom Basketball team as they play against the Samsung team and to meet the fans in Busan.
The fan even will begin at 2:30PM on the 2nd floor.
OGN/NLB are sort of the same tournament, sorta like Code S/A though not official (or mabye it is?)
also the giveaway skin mentioned earlier for champions winter, my money is on the Winter Lulu skin that was just previewed recently, seems to fit perfectly if it is scheduled to be out in time.
NLB Groups have been announced. Must Study Hard changed name to Mustard Source Hotdog but the groups look stacked with amateur and pro talent in every group.
This PandoraTV Winter 2013-14 is very different and has a great meaning than existing E-Sports sponsors. PandoraTV is a global multimedia plattform (PandoraTV and KM PLayer) is based on various distribution channels to secure sponsors at the same time different e-sports contents can be broadcasted globally which should strengthen the infrastructure and make LoL public relations and publicity even bigger thats the plan.
Particular the KM Player is used in 230 countries (Pretty sure I translated it wrong because there are only 196 countries), 36 languages and world wide 300 million people use this player which makes him the most used player in the world.
Pandora TV Winter League will be broadcasted in HD live and via VOD from the studio to capture the vivid atmossphere and deliver it to the viewer by the existing media and Pandora TV. Henceforth Ongamenet in future and already holded various E-Sports related content with domestic and foreign game industry its a win win situation to active support the movement to become global.
Pandora TV CEO said that Beginning with the OGN Winter league Pandora TV global business model where 300 million users use KM Player will take advantage of esports realted high quality and Game contents distribution to establish a healthy Sports culture together with domestic and foreign game companies.

Hey can someone quickly explain to me what is going on in Korea with all this game addiction discussion? I think somewhere it said that the hours that you can play LoL in Korea might be restricted, and to the government it's on one level with drugs and alcohol etc. Is any of this accurate? I wasn't able to catch up with all those things.

Its not the first time that the government talks about this but it never came to realization. So I would say just wait till there is an official announcement. I believe there wont be such a regulation. This is the reason why I didnt post about it here because such talks happened in the past and nothing changed.

I think yesterday there was seunnung in Korea (big test for highschool kids) maybe its related.
Riot games need to close their fan art forum on their official webpage because of the recent government hearing. In addition to the already existing measures against minors Riot needs to implement additional ones.
because minors cant easily deny the request to play another game.
Government: "The real reason is to restrict foreign games. We can't allow a foreign game company to become number one game company in Korea"
So KeSPA, which is a government entity, is working with Riot while the actual government tries to weaken Riot? Politics.
Do you have to register with your KSSN for LoL in Korea? I used to play Kartrider and as far as I remember people with a child's KSSN could only play limited hours a day.

The head of the KeSPA and the person who brought up the law are in the same party.
On November 08 2013 23:04 Chexx wrote: Government: "The real reason is to restrict foreign games. We can't allow a foreign game company to become number one game company in Korea"
What the fuck. What games are there by Korean companies anyways? I'm not very up to date with that obviously.
Korean government wants LoL to be "presented" by a Korean company, Nexon, so they can garner and squeeze as much revenue from it as possible. Was hoping dota2 would fill this hole but, its not very big in Korea yet.
So as long as the publisher is Korean, it's okay? Then they should just make Riot Korea more Korean-ish or something. Did they actually say that they want LoL to be presented by Nexon? Or is this just the implication by default, because Nexon is the only company a caliber that would be suitable?
SK Telecom changed their names to SK Telecom S and K. S stands for Saker, Speed and Spirit and K stands for Kaiser, King and absolute temperature K (Kelvin apparently).

Btw Chexx Kelvin and Fahrenheit are two different units, with Kelvin obviously being superior.

On the off-chance that the SKT management even heard the names that two English shoutcasters gave their teams as nicknames, an organization like SKT is probably wayyy too proud to even consider using these names. Too bad, Judgement Day and Terminator are really cool.

Congratulations to @riotgames they won the Corporate Social Responsibility Exellence Award.
Riotgames have many social activities like Korea Cultural Heritage preservation and youth education cooperation. Riotgames raised with their sales of the korean Champion Ahri in a 6 months duration 500 million Won and this year with the korean shaco skin they raised in the same time period 600 million Won

^ i dont see why they are taking that game so seriously, they basically gave up and get over with it. No rules said that they cant troll, too bad its broadcasted to the whole world but any player can do anything they like in tournament.
Yeah well I guess it's taken the same way the naniwa probe rush was taken. Basically they don't like people not trying their best and "ruining" the show. Reminds me of that colluded aram match between na teams too.
On November 25 2013 22:32 Slusher wrote: "Many fans felt bad after the game"
I doubt that much. it was a lot better than watching them get crushed by standard play like in game 1.
While that's quite subjective, personally I didn't enjoy it any better after 2 minutes into the game, but I was happy that they ended the series that quickly at least. It was obvious that it would cause some backlash in Korea, of course, and I can understand where they are coming from. If this didn't cause any backlash I'd be more worried.
In Progaming, not trying your hardest pretty much defeats the purpose of "competitive" play. While strong teams taking it a little back to entertain the fans (and still winning the game) might be more accepted, the underdog giving up is pretty...disheartening. Especially in Korea where over the past 15 years, so many people had developed the industry to where it is now, where KeSPA became part of the government. Although they don't have progaming licenses, they are getting paid to participate in the tournament, as part of the premier tournament in Korea, Team Dark should have thought otherwise. While we might not find it too serious, apparently the Korean fan base does.
Also, this wouldn't be a problem if they actually won with that team comp
It's essentially the balance between 'meh, let's throw the game and give our opponents free points' and 'we should try our best even though we're knocked out'.
Dark's case was little different.
1. They certainly could've tried to get 1 point, then get 3 points next time around. This meant that they had a chance of qualifying, a.k.a. they trolled before getting knocked out officially
2. Their opponent was not knocked out, so the results of the game did matter.
3. After their picks and bans (which was cute, I admit), they intentionally threw the game and started playing Gomoku with wards (...?). Why waste the fans, casters, and OGN staff's time with useless game that's being broadcasted as "professional" e-Sports?
To above poster: It wouldn't be as big of a problem if they TRIED to win and showed some professionalism after the troll ban/pick.
On November 26 2013 02:41 Carnivorous Sheep wrote: someone tl;dr me on what happened with team dark?
They were as good as out of Champions, still had to play vs Samsung Ozone. They picked a Cloud Templar tribute comp with Amumu, Shen, Trundle, Maokai, Skarner (so all of his favourite champions), which was obviously a troll comp. Then they proceeded to play very trolly and obviously lost their nexus after ~13 minutes (iirc) to Ozone.
Edit: SNM summed it up very nicely actually. Oh wait I actually listed the wrong champions I believe. They must have played Rammus, no? My tl;dr fails
Reappeared will not play in NLB Winter this Season. After dropping out of OGN Champions he wrote on his Facebook that he hasn't taken a break since he started playing 2 years ago. So he will take a break for this Season.

I dont think he has it anymore , all the switches he made were terrible IMO,his performance in WCG Korea was awful , his games vs Xenics were bad , performance vs CJ was meh. Best option would be to coach Jin Air teams , he is smart dude , knows the game , is very innovative and if they get better player for mid and get their shit together , Jin Air could be good.

No I don't think that's the reason at all. However I think part of the reason is that they're pretty late to the party and there's not a whole lot of market space to fill for them if they were to fully feature it. Also community backlash imaginable.

Reapered and HooN retired , the latter is preparing for transition in coaching . I personally feel like both of them could be good coaches since they have actual game understanding and they have built their teams from ground up .Reapereds team got in RO8 2 seasons in the row and HooN missed out on RO8 very slightly.
A chronic illness that he has dealt with since he was a kid resurfaced during his pro career that started right after military.(thanks to Chobra for this translation) Poohmandu is taking a break from professional gaming to recover his health. Once he recovered he will return to professional gaming and SKT T1 K. But in the meantime SKT T1 K is looking for a replacement.
SKT T1 Secretariat: "Poohmandu is a great player he will take a break to dissuade any troubles with his health. The health of a proplayer is the most important thing because of that he will take a rest and we wish that he can return to being a professional player. Poohmandu will remain on SKT T1 K and please cheer for him so that he can recover his health and return fast to being a professional player."
For those that may speculate for the new support afaik these are the free agent supports in Korea: Gunza Flanm Muse SSONG (Well, kinda no one knows what's going on there but sword did play him as support before re-benching) Or being SKT they'll probably find some new bonjwa support in yolo queue
There are almost 2 months before OGN Spring, i guess. It might be more than enough for him to recover and they will just find some practice dude or exploit Wolf 25 hours a day. Anyway, Pooh will recover fully and come back to complete 100 Acres with Piglet. <3
I've liked what I've seen from Flanm, but I haven't seen as much of the Korean scene to know definitively that he's who I want them to pick up. Either way until Pooh returns SKT will be noticeably worse in my opinion.
Just Send impact to support and get Marin or pick a soloqueue top. Current meta is 4vs4 for 15-20 min anyway and then toplaner start to join. And championpool:Shyv,Mundo,Renek

I actually think SKT LTE-A Masters (Club Masters) is starting pretty soon
a support taht can lane reasonably well with piglet will still allow them to do reasonably well in those leagues. mandu is a playmaker and ideas man though, completely replacing him will be really really hard. his mechanics isn't that top notch, it's the soft skills

There are still no information (i guess?) about amount of people playing in ace match from each squad and SKT T1 S is totally capable of beating anyone, so it won't hurt SK Telecom T1 team a lot. But OGN Spring is way more important, even though SKT T1 K are on Worlds already with one leg.

I refuse Muse and SSONG.
I dont have enough information on Flanm to judge, but Gunza is known as a highly skilled player in SoloQ right? One of the top supports that is
apparently he was playing wow the day before the finals rofl. shows you how much he thought of ozone. mandu is considering a career transition to streaming. gg
I'm actually quite worried for SKT T1K. While their individual skill is obviously superb, it's their decision-making and synergy that is what makes them so terrifying, and losing their shot-caller is a huge blow for them. Hopefully he can make a recovery and come back without the team losing too much momentum. I would love to see someone beat SKT, but it would be hollow if they weren't at full-strength.
He probaly feel bored with lol now since his team stomping everyone won 2 ogn and world cup. There is literally no point playing maybe for more money. I mean u team won everything and stomps everyone no one come close i will fee bored too.

Hopefully the qualifiers are a little more balanced this time. I love Longpanda, but I really would rather have seen a team like KTA qualify in place of Team NB. I also never want to see a disgrace like Team Dark in OGN ever again. But most importantly, I hope Najin Sword don't choke in the qualifiers :/ (I assume they have to go through the qualification process, right?)

lol i think it was him playing. in the screenshot he basically admitted to it and also said that he was lax with preparation before the semifinals too. he's also said to be playing a lot of hearthstone in previous interviews so the can't play other games thing doesn't stand up
Huh. If Mandu really is going this is one hell of a high note to go out on, at least. Mandu was god-tier in the finals and T1K is sitting alone at the very top of the League world.
Sucks for T1K though since Mandu was both so good and in a shotcalling role. But if the guy has too much going against him staying (illness/not putting in much time into League for whatever reason/not willing to continue SKT training regime) what can you do? Good luck to Mandu and hopefully he finds something good to put his time into.

About time they got rid of helios, baeme will probably join frost and maybe actscene since he's available and a pretty good jungle albeit an incredibly inconsistent one
Now at least i can believe in Frost's perspectives lol. After this season fiasco, i can only pray that Frost won't get something like SKT T1 K and NJBS in groupstage. Even though, poor NJBS fans will cry again :D
Good decision by CJ (I'm assuming it was mainly their call). I like all of the players involved as people, but they weren't going to play a role in any future success for Frost. The Korean LoL scene is developing so quickly that you're dead in the water if you can't adapt as new talent emerges. Sadly, I don't think any of these players have much of a future as pros. GBM never really managed to prove he was more than a one-trick pony, Helios's play has been disappointing for some time now, and Maknoon's form had been wavering as early as Spring season last year (it was sheer madness to try and shoehorn him into a mid role).
Lots of roster changes looking good. Took long enough to finally replace Helios geez. I hope CJ get their act together and do something with Baeme instead of letting him rot on the bench. I know Daydream probably wants to play with Baeme though... I wonder who they'll pick for their jungler.
For SKT T1 K, I think Icebear would be a good fit to replace Mandu since he was on an amateur team with Bengi and Faker and he is the best player on JAS. Piccaboo applied and he's also very good, though I'd be sad to see him leave Xenics Storm since I like the team. I really love Mandu though so I'd love to see him play again when he gets better. If anyone's a genius at gaming, it's Mandu. Dude was a true legend on Chaos, doesn't solo queue on LoL much (when he does he usually plays other roles) and raids on WoW the day before the OGN Winter finals...

Pretty much every amateur support in challenger/high diamond applied. From named people- Kkinsh (muse from CJ Blaze), Icebear (JAS), Piccaboo(Storm), Pony(NB), Gunza(Quantic/MiG).
well shit. both icebear and piccaboo need to change names if they make it. i guess icebear is already a bear, but piccaboo could be piccapooh or something
I thought Swift was getting a lot of criticism as Storm's jungler? Coco would be a good pickup for Frost though.
If Storm are breaking up that really makes me wonder what is going to happen to Arrow and Piccaboo, seems like there's a lot of raw talent in that bot lane.

Swift was definitely one of the weak points but he had really good synergy with coco so it makes sense to take them as a duo. A concern I'd have with coco on frost though is that picaboo roaming to mid played a massive part in coco's success and I don't think madlife will do the same thing especially since space isn't as independent of an ADC player like arrow was.

In last couple of OGN games where Frost played, Madlife actually roamed a lot to midlane trying to help out either GBM or Maknoon(depends on who played that match)
I'm a bit curious. I mean with the SK Planet banner in the background and all - what do they have to gain by exposing a Korean only (right?) telecommunications provider to the turkish audience?

SK Telecom itself is only Korean I believe yes, but SK Group is HUGE and im not sure how the SKT team is involved with the rest of their operations as a group.
On 8th February 18:00 KST Bigfile Battle Royal will have its opening game between Bigfile Miracle and Jin Air Stealth. Its a BO and the winner moves on to the next match. Total prizepool of 16 000 Dollar. For every win a team gets 2000 Dollar.

Top is very hard for me, since Shy actually carried EVERY game Frost has actually won for quite awhile now and Flame/Impact are just superb aswell, I wouldnt even wanna vote on that tbh.
Jungle is hard too, I have no idea why Watch is nominated though since Kakao is just way better, the top 3/4 junglers in Korea has distinct styles as well.
Mid - Faker of course, he's waaaay better then every midlane in the world at this point.
ADC - Piglet, one of the many reasons SKT has been so fucking unbelieveably good is that they have 2 true carries in Faker and Piglet.
Support - Mandu has excellent ward control and has great calls, while the other 2 nominated are a bit more of "support playmakers"
Watch is probably nominated because Black Sword won winter at the start of the year. These are awards for the year, not just the end of it.
That said, it's gonna be almost all SKT. Some of them might lose, but honestly they shouldn't. I think Shy or Flame might get top awards based somewhat on popularity and they may give Pray, Imp or Mata the award for being flashier players.

i think this move makes both kt teams quite a bit stronger. looking forward to the new kta
SKT could conceivably win MVP for every position, but I personally think Shy and Flame are both better than Impact. It's not that Impact is bad (he's very, very good) but rather that he's not quite as talented as Shy or Flame; his strength is that he knows his role in the team and plays that to perfection.
I'm not surprised by the KT roster changes (if true). KT have always been pretty ruthless, and I doubt the 3:0 loss to SKT in Winter would have been acceptable to them. I would be glad to see Insec back in the jungle though.

I might be biased as a Sword fan but I thought Expession was one of the best top laners in the world. It's going to be a massive hole for Sword to fill now. I really hope he is genuinely 'resting' - it does make sense to take a rest now while the teams are occupied with the less prestigious Masters tournament.
I really don't know what to think about these roster changes. I don't think I've seen Toplulu play so I can't comment on that. Watch going to Shield is odd, it makes me wonder if he was having issues with his Sword teammates - especially since he didn't play in NLB. The Helios pickup is the biggest WTF move I have seen in this off-season. I'd really like to know their rationale behind that one. Obviously I'd love for him to do well and prove the haters wrong though.
I think it makes sense Watch going to Shield - Winged was playing all the NLB games for Sword and I guess they already were planning for NoFe's departure.

But then why not move the new junglers over to Shield and keep Watch for Sword? Why let go of Winged - who I thought looked alright in the NLB games - but acquire Helios, who has been in poor form for months now? I would love to hear Najin's rationale on these moves, because on paper they don't appear to make a lot of sense.
I actually really like that shield roster with watch, it may actually be better than sword now. As for NoFe, the dude's cloudtemplar/homme age he's probably decided that top 4 is enough to end a career at the age of 30 on.

His lane by 100cs about every game. No but seriously, it's one of those cases where it is impossibly hard to evaluate and the more conservative/safe choice is to give it to a player whos team has been winning, obviously. I don't really have a stance on this myself, but the reasoning for taking Flame is most likely how well he did while being "crippled" by a weak team. It's really hard for a player in a bad team to shine, but it's just as hard to shine when you're being overshadowed by behemoths like Faker or Piglet.
i guess impact doesn't play carry roles every game so he's often roaming and doing other things the team asks of him. flame's really good in lane and all but i seriously doubt he can play the variety of styles and roles impact has played.
I think Impact is a fantastic player but there is no way he is better than Flame. Flame destroyed almost all of his opponents in lane, and he was able to carry his team even back when most of his teammates were in a slump. We've seen Impact carry games before, sure, but would he be able to do so in a team without two world-class carries soaking up most of the enemy resources?
I think Flame really dropped in the later half of 2013. Which is because Meta changed splitpush wasnt so favorable and his team was just bad. While he was up in toplane his team lost the game.
If the question was, "who is the better top laner right now", pretty sure Impact would win it quite handily; but for all of 2013, it's a pretty tough call. As others said, Flame looked really good while rest of his team sucked, which not many people manage. Impact wasn't that great in the early-mid 2013, too.
Regarding Icebear, I remember him as an okay support on a bad team. Kkoma is just a god at picking up players so I have full confidence in their decision!
Also, what? I didnt know you could download replays from op.gg SICK
On February 09 2014 01:15 oneofthem wrote: icebear is really strong in soloq. in s3 he had 2 accs in challenger too with 65+ win rate, which is kind of incredible
People doubting icebear make me sad. He has a huge champion pool and is a god in solo queue without duoing with adc. He knows how to make plays but he can also lane well defensively. He has strong mechanics and was pretty much the only highlight in a weak JAS. Most Koreans were expecting this pickup when mandu announced his hiatus. Sure Piccaboo is a very young and talented player but I didn't think he was a good fit in SKT when they have so many playmaking players. They need a strong rock like mandu was; someone who can keep Piglet calm when he loses his cool (Piglet was known for his weak mental fortitude) and Icebear is imo the best fit.
Anyway since when has kkoma ever been wrong when it comes to his brainchild K? I definitely look forward to seeing the new K though I will miss mandu.
@oneofthem I want to correct you about the amateur team. Icebear was on the team with Faker, bengi, ssumday and kyahaha (team NB), the support for the amateur team you named was Flahm.
Will InSec play jungle again next season? If I'm not mistaken he changed to top because top had a bigger influence to the game than jungle, which no longer is the case in season 4 I think.
It's hard to get information about the Korean scene, so I am sorry if my question has already been answered/made public.

There are rumours that he's going back to Jungle and Kakao is going to KTA but afaik nothing is confirmed yet.
Didn't see it posted anywhere else so I'll post it here: looks like Zero from KT A will be taking the jungle spot left by Kakao on KT B, with Insec remaining in the top lane. http://www.inven.co.kr/webzine/news/?news=104063&site=lol
Seems like a very odd move to me. To be honest, I was really looking forward to seeing Insec back in the jungle.
Not understanding this change. I just don't get the point of the switch, if Dade is struggling why put him on a team at all? Being a sub makes more sense to me.

unless some guy/company started investing a lot into the brazilian scene, going to NA would be the better choice i think. much more money to get there (skill shouldnt be a problem to them after a short amount of time to adjust to their new team)
Oh I was gonna post it when we announced our changes yesterday but had some problems and could not.
Besides money that we all know isn't that huge yet in Korea, you all gotta have in mind that streaming is already a thing in Brazil, and that they have way more chances of going to Worlds (that will be held in Korea) from the wildcard tournament than through OGN.
There's also the fact that by coming to Brazil they're entering in our history as the first foreigners to ever play here professionally and coming as well with lots of hype and will land in Brazil already as huge stars.
We're aiming at doing well at worlds, getting the 3 best players we could ever get in our country for their positions and adding the experience, game knowledge, and mindset that we may need to finally step up. Not to say our plans on traveling abroad to bootcamp and practice.

But how are you going to communicate with Suno and Winged? Pretty sure they dont speak Portuguese ... I cant imagine how the communication will be against better teams since you guys can just roflstomp easier teams?

I'll go a little bit deeper than what my statement on the website says. So, first of all we'll work in 3 languages, with 5 communication blokes. Among our brazilian players 2 of them speak real fluent english and 1 of them (brTT) something a little further than basic english, SuNo and Winged's english are basically basic (that sounded strange), as in they know in-game important words and very basic words outside of that (remember the Off the Record stuff with all the niceeee and backbackback). So, what are these blokes? 1: Korean between SuNo and Winged as they really need coordination in order to maintain map, vision, lane, roaming and dragon control together. 2: Portuguese between Loop and brTT at the botlane for obvious reasons. 3: English between Winged and Mylon to coordinate toplane plays, warding, and gank setup. 4: English between Winged and Loop to coordinate plays, warding, gank, dragon and invade setup. 5: English for shot calling, team fighting, rotations and such.
After all, Mylon and Loop are already fluent english speakers so the only one who will need to go deeper with his english is Winged, SuNo and brTT will also obviously work on it but it isn't that needed as basic english will to for the 5th bloke.

First of all I want to say that I think this is really ambitious and I wish you guys the best of luck.
But I hope there hasn't been a serious underestimation of just how important communication is going to be, and how difficult the language barrier is to overcome. I work as an English teacher in Korea and the Korean education system tends to over-emphasise vocabulary and grammar (which can be easily tested) over actual communication skills (which are not so easily tested). Many Koreans, when pressed to speak English, will often resort to using memorised phrases like those found in a travel guide, or try to communicate through single words (such as in the 'Off the Record' example).
Furthermore, most Koreans have a great deal of anxiety when it comes to speaking English. They often over-empahsise the importance of being grammatically correct, and thus, to avoid making any grammatical mistakes, they tend to limit their expressiveness. I think they also feel somewhat embarrassed when they struggle to communicate after having studied English for so long (although as I said earlier, it's not really their fault). This is obviously not true of everyone in Korea, but in my experience, the majority of Koreans are this way.
Finally, how will you prepare these guys for life in Brazil? They have each other of course, which is important, but while I've never been to Brazil, I am fairly confident in assuming that they are very different cultures. I actually met a Brazilian guy here in Korea, who had only been in the country for a week or so, and his directness and forthrightness made for some awkward exchanges with the locals. Your guys might start to feel alienated quite quickly, especially when their English skills are so limited, and doubly-so considering it's also a second language for Brazilians. Is Korean food easily accessible there? Koreans will often miss Korean cuisine VERY quickly if it is not available where they live.
Obviously I don't know SuNo or Winged and they might adapt just fine, and I really don't mean to shit all over your enthusiasm - I'm sure you must have considered these issues already and I find this whole scenario really interesting. Again, I wish you guys the best of luck, and I will keep tabs on how this all plays out!

Oh not at all, we suffer from the same problem here in Brazil, the very few people that can actually speak proper english are those who work with this or hardcore gamers (myself and two of my players included). When I say basic I mean almost nothing, I mean that they would not get even close to understanding what we're talking about in these posts for example, that happens in every sport and already happened a lot within electronic sports as well. To be quite honest we can live up to the hype in Brazil just by being individually better in the very start, but as we're not only aiming high inside our country we will work and work really hard on the communication matter.
The good thing about their adaptation is that we REALLY have korean roots, as in one of our owners has korean-born parents, has visited korea a lot and is willing to help in every possible way. Also, São Paulo have a korean neighborhood where you can find literally everything that you'd want from Korea, from every kind of food or restaurant to normal korean entertainment places (not good pc bangs tho).
Thanks a lot for the heads up and for the good luck, like I said to gosugamers, we'll be working our souls out of our bodies to make our ambitious plan a successful one.

One of the biggest changes imho, and something we needed to stir the competition in the latin american scene (not just brazil)
You guys got a scary roster, but we as latam will fight harder to prove ourselves!! With the international challenge somewhere in the near future, im more than happy about this change, i will miss caio as the AD but im sure his performance as the utility carry (i just love this expression!) will be excellent.
Best of lucks, its time to show our region is gonna be joining the big leagues!

Also Zero to KTB Jungle?
Dade is struggling only against Faker :D Against other he's still top.
And Pawn is a god sometimes, hope he will perform and it will be good for both Samsung's squads.
apparently piglet flamed someone in a soloq game. not sure what he said lol, but 1000+ comments already on that thread. will he get disciplined?
Well idk about piglet's reputation but if he's done it before he probably will get slapped silly/ have his salary cut if not SKT will probably just go "Piglet's a very naughty boy"

Aren't there a whole bunch of Korean pros who have atrocious reputations for flaming in ranked? I know at least this has been said about Flame (lol) and Imp, and I'm certain there are heaps of other players that I can't think of right now as well.

I believe flame, insec and imp had very bad reputations before becoming pro. I think locodoco mentioned that some pros have smurfs literally just to get away with flaming.

I heard this on Twitter and I couldn't believe it. Was it a case of an awesome amateur team taking them by surprise, or did they choke/get too complacent? They looked really good against CJ in Masters and I was really looking forward to seeing how they do in OGN.

Fly and radar do seem like the kind of players to completely choke. I hope they don't change the roster though because this one shows so much promise. That being said this is now appropriate
OGN Spring 1st round prelims end: advancing teams (10): Alienware TOP, XS, Prime Optimus, Midas FIO, Mook Secret, JAF, 갓 신양명, Team Olympus, Mook Comet, 빅파일 아모트 seeded into 2nd rd (6): KTA, NJBS, SKTS, IM1, IM2, Alienware Arena
10+6= 16 teams in 4 groups in double elimination = 8 teams will advance There is also one wild card spot for the 3rd/4th place teams in each group for Ro2.

I'm a little confused, could you elaborate on the format? If I understand correctly, it seems like we'll have 4 groups of 4(same as OGN) and... the top 2 teams from each group will advance? How does the wild card work if the top 8 teams automatically qualify for the remaining 8 spots?
Also, how will the draw for the groups work? I assume the seeded teams will be separated, although I guess at least two of the groups will have two seeded teams in them? I would be happy to see an amateur team make it, but not at the expense of a better team who was screwed by the draw (as happened last season).
Finally, how did KTA and IM1 get a seed, given they didn't participate in Champions Winter? Performance in NLB?

Oh and in case the format remained the same, would that mean that either XS or Mook Comet are guaranteed to be in Champions?
I'm not 100% sure but from my understanding:
- groups are double elimination - top 2 from each group qualify - 3rd place from each group goes to wildcard - 1st place from wildcard qualifies
Normally there wouldn't be a wildcard but Xenics lost their guaranteed spot for changing too many players
kkOma going over pick/ban scenarios. He wants to prioritize Sivir and the default support pick is Leona. Mandu wants to play Blitzcrank if they are up 2 games. Kassadin and Thresh are must-bans. If they take Sivir, Piglet plays Lucian. If there is nothing left to ban, kkOma says ban Riven/Kha'Zix but Piglet says they should ban Caitlyn. When the enemy roams and 4-man ganks, just give it up and stay alive.
A lot of it was just a review so they were breezing by pretty quickly. In the second part, the team is worrying about what to do during the opening ceremony. Piglet is going to do a Caitlyn gun imitation and Mandu is going to show off his championship ring.
looks like the comments are shifting back a bit. ppl saying the situation between piglet and imp are totally different since piglet was raging at a teammate in game, and imp is just talking big to someone he's queued up with so it could just be friendly banter.

Sounds pretty harsh for friendly banter tbh. I suppose the humble imp died after they reached the finals?
Midas fio especially their bot lane look incredibly promising, taking out stealths was a testament to that. With woong as coach they may be more of a team to watch than KTA and prime

they got stomped hard all three lanes against skts, dont think they have that much potential but against weaker teams they can be entertaining
Savior is thinking about what kind of watch(i guess) famous is these days; entering acting mode; I hope they believed it; Dont worry coach this match gave ma a rolex
I was going crazy while trying to fill this post with meaning, I even thought it might be a reference to the running joke that SKT match fixed tonight so both teams can advance the groups, which lead to some kind of Savior relevance.
faker thinks that it's best to become a pro after college, because he feels that he lacks knowledge about the world after going pro as a high schooler.

you know with more and more korean universities starting up e-sports divisions, i'm thinking some sort of feeder system from college -> pro e-sports (like ncaa -> nfl) MAY work in a decade or so.

It's "The Legends" match. It recreates the old el clasico of KR LoL as the Koreans call it from what I've heard, which is Frost vs. Najin (back when there was only 1 Najin team, which later became Shield). It is seen as the biggest rivalry from the earliest days of Korean League history.
Not only Rapidstar has retired as a player, so did CloudTemplar, Woong, Hoon, Mokuza, Maknoon probably too. Not sure about some of the other guys, I think Vinylcat is not playing anymore aswell.
Hmm, I really wanted to see Piglet+MadLife but I guess putting Imp and Mata together would be kinda unfair. Teams seem fairly balanced as-long as FirstBloodbition doesn't lose too hard to Faker. Excited for Faker+MadLife plays as-well!
