According to Osen, Samsung electronics is negotiating to acquire MVP Ozone (Team MVP's championship class LoL squad) for a sum in the region of $300,000~500,000. The negotiations are reported to be in the final stages.
Depending on the final conditions, there is a possibility that Samsung will also acquire MVP's SC2 squad, Dota2 squad, and the remaining MVP Blue squad (their other LoL team).
The upcoming League of Legends World Championship is said to be reason for the hasty negotiations from Samsung, as MVP Ozone has confirmed their spot there.

CJ, SKT, and KT have to fight in the Korean Regionals to make the world finals.
Samsung is literally going to buy their way there.
I can respect that.

also wax, when stuff is reported by the mainstream media like osen/sportschosun, it's normally reliable, right?

If MVP's SC2 team is " bought " as part of the deal I imagine they would get rid of most of the players and keep the elite few for their main team. MVP sc2 is a huge team right now and I don't see why they would add 20 more players when the kespa teams are all supposedly downsizing their sc2 squads.
So basically we'll lose another sc2 team if this happens.

It's actually pretty smart.
Ozone has four world class players: Imp, Mata, Dandy and dade. They should be an elite team for a long time. They're also a big favorite to go deep and win the entire tournament along with probably OMG and the Korean Regional winner.
Also, unlike KT, CJ and SKT, Samsung is a global brand. What better way to advertise your product and push yourself to the head of the e-sports world than grabbing a team that has a great shot of winning what is going to be the most watched e-sports event of all-time.

if you are late to get a good team you need to get the big wallet.

crazy, I've heard of buying the top talent but to literally PURCHASE THE ENTIRE TEAM...

It would make sense to get the MVP SC2 team as well at least, they currently have the most amount of Code S players out of any team.
If Samsung cares about SC2 that is.

One of the big 4 Kespa teams (potentially) acquiring a Dota team would be quite an interesting development.

A lot, crazy, insane price? I disagree.
Easily worth it for Samsung if you ask me.

Half of that price is actually being paid for the dancing coach!
But anyway this should be easily worth it for Samsung, looking at the record breaking OGN Finals numbers and also the implications that has on the upcoming S3 finals viewership.
Now top 6 or so in KR will be all KeSPA teams though... :O

That's a lot of money from Samsung. Never watched LoL , but I watched MVP won 1st place on a Korean tournaments when I randomly clicked on a featured stream couple months ago
So it should be worth it.

Considering jangbi retired and all samsung is gonna be pretty desperate right now. They have no one.

If they buy the SC2 squad that would be awesome for the players.
