I was going to mention this in the other thread, but the problem with tank Akali is she has one of the weakest pre-6's in the game already, and then you throw tank items on top of that and her main advantage (barely staying alive and doing a ton of damage) suddenly becomes staying alive for a long time while not doing an awful lot. Considering the state of top lane, I don't think she has any real advantage built as tank because she has to compete with the real tanks and the power picks. I'm struggling to think of even one matchup that tank Akali can win in top lane. And you can't put her mid as a tank. Jungle... maybe.
I also feel like if Riot focused on making her into a tanky champion, she'd end up in a Kha'zix situation when his ult made him nearly unkillable.
In the past I think it was fringe viable (like season 2, maybe somewhere in season 3-4), but this is probably the wrong season to be doing it. And in season 2 it was probably more because she was overtuned, not because tank Akali was particularly good.
Edit: Eh, I suppose most the tank Akali builds don't actually use sheen anymore.

I can't wait for Sivir with crit bounces. It just seems so fantastically hilarious/amazing. I wonder how long it takes before they remove that change. I really don't know how they can even balance for that type of change.

She also absolutely requires a sheen item to do any damage worth mentioning if built tanky. I also feel like if Riot focused on making her into a tanky champion, she'd end up in a Kha'zix situation when his ult made him nearly unkillable.

Actually you'd think that but she ends up playing like a more mobile Irelia mostly because of base numbers + all the healing. Between the triple dash + shroud bonus, she's surprisingly decent. Like saw one feed in lane and then tank three champions mid game without any issues (including the ADC + APC).

I foresee a good Kalista with Warlord's Bloodlust is going to be broken as fk.

Xin nerfs are weird... I mean, he got stronger during most of the patches, but I never found him oppressively strong that they needed to touch his numbers...

Especially when going up against some champs top, it's very possible to hit a point where you have more sustain than the enemies can deal with (see: Nasus), and completely dominate the lane from there.

Pretty light Kog nerfs this time around, hopefully harder ones next patch?

I like the reversal of the Hydra swap, also like how they accounted for it in Fiora's nerfs, seen too many champs get their skills nerfed in the same patch as their core build to count.
meanwhile udyr.................

Yeah, IE/PD Sivir might be S-tier now with the nerfs to the other ADCs Hm, I think ER->PD->IE might be best for Sivir. Early CDR lets you farm/shove a lot easier and more W for fights

Seems like a massive nerf to Fiora's early game. You max riposte last, so it's essentially just a 5 second increase there. Then you take away her early game survivability with the hydra change and she becomes a piñata to anyone that she doesn't counter.
Edit: it's her late game that should have taken a hit, which I think actually got buffed slightly with the E change.

Its going to be really hard to get him right because they made it so either he can stand still and do enough damage to be justified, or he can't. And basically 1% of the time that sort of thing is balanced, the rest its totally OP or totally UP. Its kind of like Vlad's laning phase, just more ubiquitous.

Nah hit champs where they are weak, buff em where they are strong. thats how you make a diverse cast.

And I'm all for Fiora not going full tank (save for Tiamat) yet still dunking left and right without breaking a sweat (hi Poppy).

The new warlords is tilting me already.
Really happy they made the first wave impossible to block. That shit was disgusting. Had a game where I fucked the wave so hard we got to lane after the camp later than our opponents but they lost 3 melees while we had 3 at half hp.
Now all they need to do is make people without smite unable to get xp from camps before 2:10 and I am gonna be happy.
Muramana change makes me sad I play this game.
That caitlyn comment actually gave me cancer.

I had no idea that blocking the first wave was even a thing to begin with. I've never seen streamers do it or anyone in any of my games do it. Never bothered to try because this isn't Dota lol

Never bothered to try because this isn't Dota lol with one person, you can kinda delay the 2nd/3rd minion and get the first one focused which will guarantee it pushes your way. It's nifty little thing to do, but doesn't make a huge difference. If you have 2 people doing it you can actually stall the 2/3 minion very, very hard because the collision radius on 2 people is twice as wide, and much, much more conducive to blocking minions.
You could also block the first minion a bit and get the wave pushing if you wanted to hit level 2 first in close matchups.
|
You didn't need 2 people. Only 2 if you were playing a champ with a smaller sized model. With braum I could easily solo block it. The creeps walked next to the inhib so you just stand to the side and walk in to block after the first creep passes and you keep blocking for a bit more.
Hell you could block with any champ but just not as much.
