What is the price that Edward Gaming will have to pay for Pawn his injury? Will they have to pay a price or does he magically reappear like he did in the 5th game against Team World Elite? How will Invictus Gaming play against Edward Gaming, their last Bo5 in the Demacia Cup final was a hard and cold defeat. There are many questions that will need to be answered, let’s have a look at both teams.
Pawn will most probably play a few games against Invictus Gaming, this was concluded after a conversation that EDG's coach had with U on his stream concerning the next series vs Invictus Gaming! That’s quite a way to start this article don’t you think? After his back injury earlier this split, it came to a point where he couldn’t deal with the pain and had to sit out the set against Team World Elite. Still, he was swapped in at the last second for U because Pawn couldn’t bear to see his teammates struggle. We all know under what conditions he had to play this final game and the outcome.
Now that the majority of the league of legends scene is satisfied that EDG will appear with their strongest roster, what will this mean for this semi final?
The last time that these two teams faced eachother in a Bo5 was in the final of the Demacia Cup. A devestating 3-0 victory in favor of EDG was the outcome of this match. “The best team in the world” or “Total Domination!” were some of the thing that were being said about this next generation league of legends team.
The difference between EDG with Pawn or with U is a world of difference. First of all, U hasn’t been playing a lot with his teammates in skrims, so he needs to to addept to them and vice versa.
Don’t be fooled, U is one of the best midlaners in China, on any other team he would be a starter and a team would be build around him. This is the player who was part of the EDG that dominated when Namei was on the team.
EDG without Pawn is comparable to X-men without Wolverine, but when this “Wolverine” steps onto the rift, together with his fellow mutants, there is nobody who will be able to stop them.
Pawn’s ability to roam and assist his lanes getting ahead has shown to be a huge power of this team. U who didn’t play bad and was not at all responsible for the losses against TWE, just isn’t the same type of player, but it doesn’t make him weaker.
Invictus Gaming ended up in the semi finals unexpected and even stronger as rated before the playoffs kicked off.Eliminating Vici Gaming in the Quarter finals by winning all their lanes repeatedly throughout the series, was very impressive to see.
Zzitai being one of the outstanding performing players who lived up beyond expectations. He had to lane against Carry, one of the toplane talents this split in the LPL. Zzitai didn’t flinch in any of the games and went even or won his lane repeatedly and having more map pressure than his opponent.
Rookie and Kakao are the 2 carries on the side of Invictus Gaming who should be the ones assigned to shutting down Clearlove. Their roaming and map pressure should be enough to make EDG feel uncomfortable.
Where IG had no chance against EDG at the DC finals, many rated IG to be without chances to win the series against Vici too. IG did manage to outplay Vici on their turf and why wouldn’t they be able to outplay EDG?
IG doesn’t have the same amount of talent that is present on the EDG line up, but a good preparation could get them a long way.
Match-ups:
Pawn vs Rookie – Many have claimed that Rookie is a better player than Pawn and the other way around. With both players being heavy carries for their team, Rookie being a heavier carry than Pawn, this set could answer our questions concerning this face off.
Clearlove vs Kakao – How will Kakao respond to Clearloves map pressure? How will Clearlove respond to Kakao’s early warding? Both players are the carries for their team and a huge weight lays on their shoulders to get their teams into the next round. Both junglers are able to play anything in the current meta, as where Kakao prefers the Gragas and Clearlove the Sejuani and Nunu. We will see how these 2 great players will affect this game and the entire series!
Prediction
I think EDG will take the series in 4 games, their individual skill is unmatched and their performance against TWE has woken them up. EDG has only 1 goal, which is to attend to MSI.
