The legendary Chinese support Fzzf officially announced his retirement today, and posted the following message on his Weibo:
Only when writing this did I realize how hard it was to let go…
Three years have passed since I went from someone who was obsessed with all sorts of competitive games to becoming a League of Legends pro. From the original DREAM to PHX, and then to WE, and finally to EDG today, everything went by like a dream. It feels like yesterday when I was just trying to win a small local tournament, to becoming world champions with WE, to 18 tournament victories today. But yesterday is still yesterday, and seeing many of my former teammates retire, combined with the fact that I’m one of the older pro players remaining, I have to confront reality. I’ve been thinking about it since the end of Season 4, and I finally decided to retire. Retiring does not mean I will be exiting e-sports. I will remain in this industry with everyone, I won’t be leaving, and I will never forget the past three years. During the past three years I’ve been both praised and doubted; I’ve hesitated, despaired, and questioned myself, but ultimately I endured. Thank you to all my teammates who’ve always believed in me, thank you to my parents who’ve always supported me, thank you to WE and EDG for nurturing me, and thank you to all the fans who either like or dislike me for motivating me. Without you guys, I wouldn’t be who I am today.

If you want to watch a game where players are still relevant 3 years past their prime, League isn't the game you should be watching.
In regards to Fzzf, I wish him all the best.

XaioXaio and maybe misaya were the only ones that couldn't keep up. There is literally nothing that ever indicated weixiao or caomei were falling behind, the only reason they retired is because actscene/ninja/conan became literally impossible for anyone to carry and the streaming monies were beyond ridiculous. Well in caomei's case the pregnancy played a factor.
I never said I suddenly don't like LoL I'm just sad that a teams I liked are more or less gone, I was sad to see cloudtemplar and reapered go, doesn't mean I've suddenly lost interest in Korean LoL.

I was thinking something similar actually. Same players for years and years and years and.....

NA still produced C9 - so for quantity it's not the best, but C9 compared to the players everyone else is referencing is a newer team. With the recent import trend though, it's hard to see NA producing more "pure" top teams. But honestly, if you've played high elo challenger in EU/NA you know the difference. EU is just a more competitive environment. Even more apparent in KR/CN. Isn't NA also smaller than the other three in terms of total players?
