The Process
I went through the thread and gave each team points for every vote cast(1st place = 10, last place = 1). The point of this is that it allows me to set up a popular opinion power ranking that can be used to point out high importance matches as well as create a probability system. The final tally was as follows:
+ Show Spoiler +
(teams with half points were voted as being a toss up for 2 positions with another team. both teams were awarded one half of the 2 rankings worth of points added ie. 9/10 between Coast and T8 would give each team 1.5 points)
1. Cloud 9 - 482 points
+ Show Spoiler +
Seemingly every first place vote was for C9, no seriously, I can count the number of votes that did not have C9 in almost one hand.
2. Team Liquid - 410.5 points
+ Show Spoiler +
I don't know if this is because this was taken from a thread on Liquid Legends or if its because of their offseason moves but the water horses overcame TSM... but not by much
3. Team Solo Mid - 392.5 points
+ Show Spoiler +
TSM had a much more varied ranking than the 2 teams above, people had them at first and much lower down the pack. The debatable changes to their roster and poor performances recently are likely the case but either way they have fallen to third in NA.(for this simulation at least)
4. Winterfox - 308.5 points
+ Show Spoiler +
Winterfox marks the top of the midfield in North America, 90 points behind TSM is quite an obvious gap. I would not say Winterfox had convinced me personally of this potential but the popular opinion is that their change into an all korean line up will do them good.
5. Counter Logic Gaming - 283 points
+ Show Spoiler +
CLG had the largest variance in votes, some people though they would come as high as second some thought that they would fall to ninth. That is why CLG sits right in the middle at fifth.
6. Team Impact - 254 points
+ Show Spoiler +
The addition of Impact himself and a few fresh faces seems to have discourage people from voting highly of them. TiPs votes were as varied as CLG's, going anywhere from third to ninth.
7. Gravity - 220 points
+ Show Spoiler +
The ex-Curse Academy team seems to have done enough to convince the Liquid Legends community that they are good enough to perform within the middle of the pack in the LCS. I am sure SaintVicious and his boys will be able to put up a fight, if they will be as good as some people think is yet to be found out.
8. Team Dignitas - 152 points
+ Show Spoiler +
Dignitas has had the worst votes of any team from last season still in the LCS. Their unknown off season acquisitions seems to have put the team into the bottom tier of the LCS. They mark the beginning of the bottom tier in NA LCS.
9. Team Coast - 119.5 points
+ Show Spoiler +
Coast was able to narrowly get themselves into the LCS with a close victory of Fusion Gaming, but they did not do enough to convince people they had what it takes to make it out from the bottom two.
10. Team 8 - 72.5 points
+ Show Spoiler +
If you go through the voting thread almost everyone has the bottom 3 teams the same, 8. Dignitas - 9. Coast - 10. Team 8. They were as consistently at the bottom as C9 was at the top. The community seems to believe they do not have the LCS blood in their lineup as they are well in last place.
These point ranking are used to determine the result of each match of the season roughly. Any game between 2 teams within 150 votes would be considered an important game and will be assigned a result through a simple probability formula.
+ Show Spoiler +
X points + Y points = Total
Total/X points = %Xwins Total/Y points=%Ywins
Total/X points = %Xwins Total/Y points=%Ywins
+ Show Spoiler +
This formula allows room for upsets but also makes it easier on me to do the calculations by setting the 150 point bracket. You may say "C9 has more than 54% chance to beat Liquid!!!" they may yes, but that is why this is for fun, no calculation based on ranking can compensate for the top team being MUCH better or the worst team being MUCH worse.

TL;DR: Results were similar to what we started with but CLG stole a couple games and TSM dropped a few too many. TiP on the other hand lost a lot more than they should have and Gravity put together a strong entry season into the LCS. Ill be coming back here to look at how the results compare to this simulation. I was fairly happy with the outcome as well as the vote compilation. This thread will at the very least function as a scale for how this community is thinking about NA LCS on a whole.
Anyways let me know if you found this interesting, or feel free to call me stupid because I am aware this post is fairly meaningless.
